The Moto Concorso is part of THE MEET at Monterey, pre- Motogiro America activities planned for the Monterey Bay area from July 10-18th 2008, preceding the Motogiro America ride July 13-18 and the MotoGP at Mazda Raceway-Laguna Seca July 18-20.

Moto Concorso is an exhibition of performance and street motorcycles designed for road or competition use. Scooters and Mopeds of every brand and vintage will be on hand to help celebrate the Giro activities.

This concourse of historical and modern motorcycles is presented by the Ducati Vintage Club, an official Ducati Desmo Owners Club organization, Ducati North America, and with the Genuine Scooter Company.

It is hoped that this intriguing educational and social event will invoke the visitor’s curiosity and admiration for the efforts and passion of the designers, developers and owners of these magnificent examples of engineering development and artistic manifestation.

The Moto Concorso will highlight the motorcycles that defined the Motogiro event in Italy and also the art, innovation and raw functionality of Italian racing motorcycles. On special display will be some of the motorcycles of the Silverman Museum Racing Collection.

The Chief Scrutineer leading the judges will be Alessandro Altinier of Treviso, Italy, a world renowned restorer of racing, rare and exotic motorcycles. Alessandro’s 20 plus years of professional restoration experience of the most rare of racing motorcycles gives him the expertise and qualifications to be
the most discriminating judge of all motorcycles.

In addition, the DVC welcomes three time MotoGP world champion Wayne Rainey and racing legend Joe Leonard. Grand Prix racer and Imola 200 winner, Paul Smart, Frank Scurria, Ducati Racing Champion and motorcycle innovator will be discussing the development of the Ducati 350. Cook Neilson and Phil Schilling, Daytona winners and Ducati racing pioneers will also be available to sign autographs. More to come.
